Seriously, this is the neatest thing I've made in ages!! I LOVE it!! I just got some of the new fabric from the Occasions Mini Catalog and had big plans to make a notebook cover with it.... Well, I didn't want to waste any of that yummy Stampin' Up! fabric if my idea didn't pan out. So, I pulled out some fabric I had on hand and made this!!

The flower is actually a pin that I can remove and wear if I want! It's made with the new Fun Flowers Bigz L Die, also available in the Occasions Mini Catalog! When I cut all of the flower shapes and assembled the flower, it looked too flat. To fix that, I sprayed them with heavy starch and then pressed with my iron. While they were still warm and damp, I scrunched it in a ball and let it dry. When they were dry, I opened them up and layered the petals. I punched a hole in the center with my Crop-A-Dile and fastened with a Jumbo Brad.

If you remember from my last post, my friends were just married! I thought I would show you their wedding card. Kassie picked out the coolest colors for her wedding! So bright! A very dear friend of mine just found out she's having a baby!! I'm so happy for her! Her and her beau were married on January 1st and are over the moon with joy! Congratulations Kassie and Jason!

Here is the card I made to congratulate them! :) Obviously they don't know what they're having yet so I stuck to neutral baby colors. I love blue for Christmas!! Many of you know that I am a Christmas FANATIC!! LOVE IT!! I get so excited! That's probably why I'm already starting to figure out my Christmas card design. This is definitely my favorite this far... probably because it's made with Bashful Blue! lol! And the Serene Snowflakes is one of my favorites too! In fact I used it in last years Christmas card design! hmm... Now that I'm thinking about it. Maybe this design isn't the best option. It's too close to last years card. Back to the drawing board! LOL!!!

Lots of sparkles!!

Seriously, this is a horrible picture. I haven't been able to get outside to take decent pictures, so this is what you get. You can't see it too well, but the textured background is SUPER sparkly! It's so easy to make too! Take your Champagne Mist Paint and mix with 70% alcohol. As for the ration… I just pour the pain in a spray bottle and then add lots more of the Alcohol until I get the desired look. Just play around with it. It's so pretty!

Bargello - Not just for needlepoint!

If you're not familiar with Bargello, it is technique used in needlepoint. The stitches in needlepoint are laid out in interesting patterns. Bargello is also perfect for showing off Designer Series papers! Plus, you can use leftover paper that you don't want to throw away, but don't know what to do with!

Here is how it's done:
1. Cut Designer Series paper into strips of varying widths (striped papers work best)
2. Align colors into desired pattern. Adhere to Whisper White cardstock.
3. Using the tabletop paper cutter, cut cardstock into desired size.

New In Colors!

With all the new colors since the color renovation, I keep forgetting to use the new in colors! This card is very simple, but I love how it looks! Wondering how I got the scallops around the layer of Whisper White? It's actually a Clearlit Die for the Big Shot! It's so cool! I stamped my image first and since the die is clear, I lined it up that way! It punches the image out perfectly! I can be assured the image will be in the center of the layer! Too cool!

It's true! Stampin' Up! has tools that will help you quilt too! This small wall hanging was made with the Big Shot!! I want to make a small wall hanging to match a baby quilt I recently made for a friend of mine. I am limited in matching fabric, so I thought I would do a practice run with some scrap Valentine's Day fabric. I'm excited to start the next one! I was much easier than I thought it would be!! :) And cute too!

Are you wondering WHAT part of this quilt is made with the Big Shot? The petals, center of the flower, and the leaf are!! I used the 5 Point 3-D Star and Scallops #2 Bigz Dies! Amazing, huh? :)

Well, I've really dropped the ball this time... I was browsing through a card gallery here on the internet and I found the coolest card! I had asked permission from the creator of the card to CASE it and then post it on my blog. Well, for the life of me I can NOT find her correspondence or her blog address. So, if you're reading this.... please accept my apology and send me a link so I can make sure to post it here!! You're card is super cool and I love the simplicity of it!

I love the colors and design of Stampin' Up!'s new Designer Series Paper Greenhouse Gala. It matches the stamp set Friends Never Fade, but I'm used a sentiment from the set Perfect Punches. This was so simple, but really turned out well. It's actually a 4 1/4" square, which is nice because it still fits in a standard medium sized envelope, but you don't have to pay extra postage for a square envelope! ;) What a wonderful trick!

Yes, it's another vintage style card. I'm not sure what's gotten into me! I used to think that I really like straight clean lines, but now I'm not so sure! ;) I've also recently started using Stampin' Up! Decor Elements Stencils and I think I'm in L.O.V.E.! Can you see where I used the stencil here? It's on the shabby Elegant Eggplant layer. You can really see it just under the butterfly. This stencil is called Mostly Vintage - go figure! LOL!!Supplies:

I love this color combo... even though the colors don't quite look the same in the picture as they do in real life (I honestly tried to take pictures outside, but it was seriously too hot!!! So, I came back inside and tried with my light box.). Baja Breeze is an old in-color, but is now returning as a core color! Same with Rich Razzleberry! The So Saffron has been around for a while, but it's one of my favorites! This color combo will definitely be used again!! :)

I'm a little late....

My nephew's first birthday was on June 24th - can you believe it's been a year already!? I sure can't! A few ladies in my family and I made these invitations for the small event! I chose Choo Choo before he was born for his first birthday. Nothing like being prepared. lol. My sister picked primary colors for his decorations so, I thought the colors of the invitation fit well.

Today is HOTTTT in Pennsylvania. We're in the beginning of a heat wave. The humidity is on the rise and I'm not happy about it! :( We moved to a new home in February and I was super excited to have the WHOLE upstairs to myself! One room is for my sewing and the other is my stamp room. I wasn't thinking about how warm it was going to be up there in the summer though! Luckily, I was able to stamp this morning before it got too hot up there! :)

Take a close a close look at the fireworks. See how they're different colors? On ONE stamp!? The technique is so neat and super easy. I had big plans on making a video before today, but it just wasn't in the cards. I'm hoping I'll be able to have it done by Monday!

Vintage Friend

The weather is beautiful in north central Pennsylvania today!! My kind of weather! Cool, but sunny!! I spent most of the day in my craft room - a rare thing lately! Now I'm so relaxed I can barely keep my eyes open! I really needed this day!

This is one of the cards that was accomplished. I thought I better share it today, because after tomorrow that Basic Gray Taffeta Ribbon is GONE!!! I am so excited for the new catalog! I'm starting to work on a Catalog Showcase Party for the end of July! I can't wait! :) I'll share more details later. In the mean time, here is the card. I tried to make the sentiment layer look like fabric, by wiping real red on very vanilla textured card stock with a sponge dauber... this definitely was not my best idea, but that's OK. LOL!

My goodness... has it really been almost 2 full months since I posted anything for you!? You don't know how sorry I am for leaving you hangin'! Fabric Q&A for your Stampin' Up! Big Shot:

What type of fabric will the Big Shot cut? The Big Shot will cut all types of fabric. For a complete list of Big Shot-approved materials, click here.

How many pieces of fabric can I cut at a time? That depends on the fabric. Different fabrics vary in thickness. For example, your Big Shot can cut through eight layers of cotton, which is a relatively thin fabric, but it will only cut through one layer of faux fur, which is a very thick fabric.

Do you shim fabric in a Big Shot differently than paper? No. Your Big Shot works the same with fabric as it does with paper. Different fabrics vary in thickness, much the same as different paper materials vary in thickness. If you are only cutting one layer of a very thin fabric, you might need to use a piece of card stock as a shim just as you would if you were only cutting one layer of thin paper.

Will all Big Shot dies cut fabric? You can cut fabric with any of the Sizzix steel-rule dies (Originals, Bigz, Bigz L, and Bigz XL). You cannot cut fabric with Sizzlits, Embosslits, Textured Impressions Embossing Folders, or Texturz Plates.

Will dies with score lines ruin my fabric? You can still use dies with score lines to cut fabric. The score lines will slightly distress your fabric, but shouldn't damage it permanently. However, we recommend that if you are using dies with score lines to only cut one or two layers at a time (depending on the thickness of your fabric). If you try to cut too many layers at a time, it is possible that the score lines could tear your fabric.

Will cutting fabric with the Big Shot dull my dies? The Big Shot steel-rule dies (Originals, Bigz, Bigz L, and Bigz XL) were designed to work on several different types of materials. For a complete list of Big Shot approved materials, click here. Cutting fabric with your Big Shot dies will not result in any damage to your dies, and will not dull them any faster than cutting paper will.

Should I wash my fabric before working with it? It really depends on the fabric. Some lower-quality fabrics will shrink after they're washed, which could result in your project coming apart. However, many quilters don't wash their fabric first because the fabric is stiffer and easier to work with before it's washed. And if you use higher-quality fabrics, they will likely not shrink.

Does Stampin' Up! plan to sell fabric? Stampin' Up! works hard to stay on trend, but it just isn't possible to offer every crafting product on the market. We will continue to explore new products and possibilities, but will keep stamps, ink, and paper as our core products.

Where can I find the fabric used in the sample quilt square? Will we be seeing those designs in an upcoming Designer Series paper? Shelli chose fabric for the Leadership quilt blocks from a local quilt store. Those fabrics do not contain any Stampin' Up! artwork, and we will not be basing any future artwork on those fabric designs.

I don't have a sewing machine. Can I still create fabric projects? Yes! The world of fabric crafting is as varied as the world of paper crafting. There are several alternatives to using a sewing machine. You can create many simple designs sewing by hand using a needle and thread or even a hot glue gun. In addition, fusible web is a great option for creating one-of-a-kind fabric crafts.

What is fusible web, and how does it work? Fusible web is a manmade fiber that will melt when heated with an iron and become sticky. When it is placed between two pieces of fabric, the melting of the web causes the fabrics to fuse together making it possible for you to adhere the fabric without the use of a sewing machine. Fusible web is available in rolls (similar to tape), in pre-packaged pieces, or is sold by the yard in your local fabric store.

My quilting friends mention things called charm packs, layer cakes, and fat quarters. What are they? Charm packs, layer cakes, and fat quarters are terms for precut cotton that is generally used for quilting. Charm packs include a variety of coordinating fabrics cut into 5" x 5" squares. The packs have an assortment of patterned and solid fabrics, and their small size makes them ideal for using on quilt blocks. Layer cakes are just like charm packs, but they are larger in size, with the cotton cut into 10" x 10" squares. Fat quarters are pieces of cotton cut into quarter yard segments. However, instead of being cut vertically, like you would cut a piece of fabric off a bolt, fat quarters are cut horizontally first, giving you a piece of cotton that measures 18" X 22". All of these options are a great way to get a good selection of fabrics at a relatively inexpensive price.

It was after I gave him the card that I realized that I put the "trailer hitch" in the wrong place. It should have been near the bumper and not at the top of the truck bed. Oh, well.
